Actor and producer Yara Shahidi has signed with Objectively Good Management (OGM) for representation.
Shahidi is best known for her starring role in ABC’s ‘Black-ish’ and its spin-off ‘Grown-ish’. Shahidi also served as executive producer of the Freeform show, which wrapped its six-season run in May, under the banner of 7th Sun Productions, which she runs with her business partner and mother Keri Salter-Shahidi. 7th Sun Productions has signed a multi-year deal with ABC Signature, expanding in 2022 with the addition of a partnership with Onyx Collective.
“I am very pleased to welcome Yara Shahidi to the OGM family,” said Mohamed Kheir, president of the company’s management, in a statement announcing the signing. “Yara’s talent, intellect and dedication to impactful storytelling, both as an actor and producer, make her a unique force. We look forward to supporting her as she continues to break new ground and inspire audiences around the world.”
The 24-year-old multi-hyphenate’s acting resume also includes the Amazon Studios film “Sitting in Bars With Cake,” in which she starred and executive produced; Disney’s “Peter Pan & Wendy,” where she was the first person of color to play Tinker Bell; a voice role in Netflix’s “My Father’s Dragon”; “Extrapolations” from Apple TV+; and the Disney+ docuseries “Growing Up,” in which she directed an episode. Shahidi will next star opposite Keith Powers and Renée Elise Goldsberry in the coming-of-age romance “Bloom.”
On November 20, Shahidi launches “The Optimist Project,” a weekly podcast created and co-produced by 7th Sun Productions for Sirius XM. The show “delves into the thought processes of extraordinary changemakers who shape their futures with intent,” with a roster of guests including Janelle Monáe, Courtney B. Vance, Hasan Minhaj and Kid Super.
In addition to OGM, Shahidi is still represented by CAA, 2:00 PM Sharp and The Nord Group.
OGM is a Los Angeles-based management company founded in 2023 by Kheir, Matthew R. Cooper, Uwakokunre (Kokie) Imasogie and Nicholas “Nikko” Lara. Their talent roster includes Grammy-nominated musician Masego, creator Elsa Majimbo and podcaster Simran Kaur (“Girls That Invest”).
