SPOILER ALERT: This post contains spoilers from the “Yellowstone” Season 5 Episode 11 episode, “Three Fifty-Three,” which premiered Sunday, November 24 on Paramount Network.
Last week’s episode tied up some loose ends, but this week’s ‘Yellowstone’ is all about violence, as we finally see John’s murder come to fruition, as well as the murder of a troublesome favorite – all with some punches and rough behavior in between. Let’s start:
- Why is Beth (Kelly Reilly) studying Italian? Lifelong learning is great, but it seems quite random…
- “It must be that time of the month?” Shut up, Tate (Brecken Merrill) – don’t be misogynistic.
- Wow, we’re going to watch the strike team kill John (Kevin Costner), night vision goggles and all? Dark!
- I know that’s not the point, but it’s weird seeing John in pajamas. I assumed he slept in a cowboy hat and jeans.
- We see them forcing John to shoot himself? VERY dark!
- Does Beth have The Shining? How can she feel that her father is dying?
- Kayce (Luke Grimes) was also mystically warned about his father’s death? Hey?
- Not to question the show’s creator, Taylor Sheridan, who wrote these episodes, but it feels like the flashbacks and unordered storytelling are more repetitive than “Rashomon.” It was interesting to see John’s death finally happen, but it’s three weeks later and it still feels like the story has barely progressed.
- Jamie (Wes Bentley) is already trying to do political things – disgusting!
- Yay, Clara (Lilli Kay) gets a big promotion. She worked so hard!
- Oh, Clara’s gone. Easy to come, easy to go.
- Yes, Clara has already done that another job with Senator Perry (Wendy Moniz). Congratulations again!
- Kayce demands supervision of the second autopsy… I’m sorry, what’s your expertise here? Let this medical researcher do her job!
- Maybe the nurse who put Kayce in a chokehold should sue the state…
- Jamie’s assistant should Also sue the state. Kayce treats everyone!
- That said, watching Kayce beat up Jamie was pretty satisfying.
- Phew, new Governor Steven Rawlings (Gareth Williams) just ruined Jamie’s position. You can’t influence the government anymore, buddy!
- ‘The marks on his body… He could have gotten those when he fell to the ground. It was a 68 year old man. For all we know, he could have fallen into the tub.” Sarah (Dawn Olivieri) delivers some hard truths from the pen of Sheridan that address the larger-than-life legacy of John Dutton.
- Poor Sarah learning that Jamie is the largest snake in the world. He won’t protect you, boo!
- Oh damn, Sarah’s parting words to Jamie (“You just become a lot less important in this state.”) definitely hurt him more than her huge blow.
- Wow, that murder was shocking! Goodbye, Sarah, you were chaotic until the end.
- “My number! My number!” There’s nothing like Jamie hearing his love interest being murdered over the phone only afraid it might have something to do with him.
See you next week, “Yellowstone” fans!
