“Saturday Night Live” poked fun at one of the most anticipated films of the holidays, the Timothée Chalamet-directed Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown,” on Christmas Day with a sketch of the film’s red carpet premiere.
Chloe Fineman, as Timothée Chalamet, admitted she was having a Brat Summer (a reference to the CharliXCX-inspired trend). “Oh man, it was crazy. Nuts,” Fineman exclaimed as Chalamet.
The fictional Buzzfeed reporter, who saw Bob Dylan (James Austin Johnson), said, “Oh, my god. And icon warning! Here comes Mr. Bob Dylan himself.” The reporter then asked Johnson as Dylan if he too had had a Brat Summer.
“What?” Dylan said. “A snot summer,” the Buzzfeed reporter repeated, “have you had a snot summer?”
Dylan, with his signature gravelly voice, misunderstood the question, thinking he was being asked about bratwurst. “Bob, I love this man!” said Fineman as Chalamet. “I love you too, but all this sausage talk has whet my appetite.” I heard there’s a hot bar at the end, so if you’ll excuse me.”
Dylan and Chalamet were suddenly joined on the red carpet by Bruce Springsteen. “Baby, I was born to watch this movie,” the Boss sings, a nod to his song “Born to Run.” “Wait, boss, did you hit the hot bar?” Dylan asked. And Springsteen replied, “Yes, Bob. The atmosphere may be small, but the taste is big.”
When Springsteen is asked about his favorite Chalamet movie, he says, “I like that ‘Wonka’ picture. I grew up in a chocolate factory town. I remember the day they brought it down. Dad came home drunk. Mama ran off with an Oompa Loompa. But of course that, like all my stories, is not true.”
“Uh-oh, here comes rock legend Bono,” says the interviewer. When asked if he had a Brat Summer, Bono replies: “I didn’t have a Brat Summer. Couldn’t possibly. Because of the sweltering heat caused by climate change. We must act now.”
Referring to a new Netflix movie for the holidays, Bono added: “I just watched a documentary about the devastating effects of global warming. It was called ‘Hot Frosty.’
“Gladiator II” actor Paul Mescal made his hosting debut on tonight’s episode, with artist Shaboozey as musical guest.
