That essentially means you have plenty of opportunities to snag a bargain on the tech you’ve been eyeing all year, with many of the deals going unbeaten all year round. This isn’t to say you shouldn’t buy something you see on sale at other times, but for big purchases like a new TV, phone or other tech, you can wait a while and see if it’s cheaper on Black Friday. .

When is Black Friday 2024?
Black Friday 2024 has started November 29with Cyber Monday falling on December 2 this year.
It’s easy to remember when these two smart shopper days happen. Black Friday is always the first and in the US it is the day after Thanksgiving. Cyber Monday obviously falls right after the weekend. Thanksgiving itself is always the fourth Thursday in November. Once you remember that, you’ll never be surprised by your Black Friday planning again.
When do the early Black Friday deals start?
The days of waiting for Black Friday itself are long behind us.
Some retailers start their sales as early as October, so you can get discounts well before the day itself.
However, we usually see the biggest offers during the week of Black Friday, which starts on Monday, November 25, 2024. Sometimes it can even be beneficial to buy before Friday, because some retailers are out of stock.
Many technology deals then run throughout the weekend, with the last day being Cyber Monday. So if you have Christmas presents in mind, start looking in October.

Are Black Friday deals good?
As the event has evolved over the years, almost everyone is aware of the tricks some retailers pull. Whether it’s subtly increasing the pre-sale price to make discounts appear bigger, or showing a regularly available price as a special offer, there are many reasons to be wary when hunting for bargains.
We track prices all year round and only highlight genuine offers. And we’ll tell you if we’ve seen it cheaper before, so you’re fully informed before you make a purchase.
You can also check the prices yourself. There are many useful websites such as Price Spy and CamelCamelCamel that display the price history of a specific product so you can see if you are really getting a good deal or not.
You should also be aware of offers that seem too good to be true: it’s important to check out the references of a retailer you’ve never heard of, who is selling the gadget you want at a super low price.
Of course, just because a TV was £10/$10 cheaper two months ago doesn’t mean you shouldn’t buy one during a Black Friday sale if you need a new TV. There is no guarantee that you will get it cheaper if you wait longer: the trend is for prices to rise due to higher production costs, distribution costs and the price of energy.

Take advantage of price matching
Many retailers, such as Currys in the UK, offer this price matching against rivals, both online and in-store. Others will do this too, and this can be an advantage if you prefer to buy things in a physical store and not order online.

While Amazon doesn’t have a price-matching policy, it does have a strong return policy. You may return most new and unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. In addition, you have the legal right to cancel an order within 14 days of delivery.
If you notice a few days later that your purchase has a lower price, you can always cancel your first order and purchase the same item at the lower price and return the original purchase (if you already received it). Again, make sure it is unopened, unused and undamaged.
If you’re wondering why the deals started so early, it prevents frenzied crowds from gathering in stores and malls, although this isn’t nearly as big of a problem as it was a few years ago.
What to expect from Black Friday 2024
We at Tech Advisor cover Black Friday every year, along with other flash sales like Amazon Prime Day. Therefore, we can make some solid predictions about what to expect from Black Friday 2024.
For mobile and tablets, we typically see the biggest discounts on some of the most popular Android devices. Samsung almost always offers big savings, from the budget A-series to even the most recently launched models like the Z Flip 6.
Google also usually goes big on Black Friday and often bundles phones with chargers. In the US we’ve also seen Samsung phones being sold with free Amazon gift cards.
Often, some of the best deals are on phones released the year before. For example, the Samsung Galaxy S23 had huge savings during Amazon’s Prime Day sale in the summer. So if you have your eye on a new model, it might be worth looking at smartphones from 2023 as well as the latest ones.
If you are looking for an Apple product, there is a good chance that you will get a discount on Apple Watches on Black Friday. Once again we have also seen big discounts on smartwatches from Google and Samsung.
When it comes to home technology, electric toothbrushes are among the most popular deals on Black Friday – and they’re almost always at deep discounts. This Prime Day we also saw some impressive discounts on air fryers, including the latest models from Ninja.
Shark and Dyson vacuum cleaners also tend to deliver big savings, with some of the most impressive coming from robot vacuum cleaners, especially iRobot and Ecovacs.
Amazon often offers bundles on its own products such as the Echo Dot and Ring doorbell.
Many streaming platforms offer big discounts around Black Friday. We’ve repeatedly seen deals for Disney+, Now, Hulu, Max, and Paramount+. However, Netflix isn’t really offering any savings for this flash sale.
