Ha, 29, has been cast as Sophie Bridgerton season 4, Variety reported on Friday, August 16. Netflix did not respond We weekly‘s request for comment.
Born in Australia, Ha previously played in the Halo TV series and Bad behavior. She will also star in the upcoming HBO show Dune: Prophecy as Young Kasha.
Earlier this summer, Netflix confirmed that the fourth season of the Regency romance would follow suit Julia Quinn‘s third Bridgerton book, An offer from a gentleman. The novel follows Benedict (Luke Thompson) as he finally meets his match.
“Despite his older and younger brothers both happily married, Benedict is reluctant to settle down – until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball,” reads Netflix’s official synopsis.
Of course, when viewers last saw Benedict, he wasn’t ready to tie the knot. He was exploring his sexuality and had a threesome with Lady Tilley Arnold (Hanna New) and Paul Suarez (Lucas Aurelio).
Showrunner Jess Brownell seemed to confirm that Benedict and Sophie were still soulmates after she swapped Francesca’s gender (Hannah Dodd) love interest from Michael to Michaela.
“The introduction of Sophie is certainly still on the agenda, but we will continue to explore his fluidity,” Brownell said DeWrap in June after Benedict confirmed he is part of the LGBTQIA+ community. “This is not the end of that storyline.”
Brownell added that she was “really excited” to follow Benedict’s upcoming love story and tell Netflix’s Tudum“It felt important for him to explore the fullness of himself before settling down. He’s someone with a big appetite, and we wanted to see him live a big life before he goes into settling down mode. I’m excited to see where we go with him in Season 4. There are a lot of things I want to say about it, but I’ll probably have to wait.”
The new season is already in production, with costume fittings beginning last month. It looks like Benedict will get the impressive Bridgerton glow-up when he steps into the lead role.
Costume cutter Lewis Westing offered a behind-the-scenes look via Instagram. “Luke Thompson/Benedict does a first fitting in his trailer with the last coat we made for him in season 3,” he captioned a since-deleted photo on July 24. “The photo may not show it, but he was genuinely happy with this new look.”
Westing added in the comments section: “Just wait, we had our first adaptation of season 4 today, and yours [sic] in for a treat. I even got a kiss on his head, he was so delighted with the glow.”
Netflix has not yet made an announcement Bridgerton season 4 premiere date.
