Hazleton, Pa. – Cargill plans to put production in his cocoa and chocolate facility in Hazleton, Pa., In May. Production is expected to move to other Cargill factories in North America, where the company said it is planning to invest in new upgrades to “support the evolving needs of the customer”.
“This decision was not easy because it influences the 102 employees of the Hazleton facility, their families and the community in general,” Cargill said in a statement. “We work closely with our affected employees through this transition, including offering dismissal benefits and assistance with the placement of jobs.”
Cargill took over the Hazleton factory in 2015 as part of the acquisition of $ 440 million of the global chocolate activities of Archer Daniels Midland Co. That transaction included three chocolate power stations in North America (Hazleton; Milwaukee, Wis.; And Georgetown, Ont.), And three in Europe (Liverpool, UK; Managing, Belgium; and Mannheim, Germany).
Nowadays Cargill has cocoa and chocolate 33 plants, 13 laboratories, 4 innovation and application centers and 3 warehouses in 25 countries. The other North -American factories of the company are located in Wayzata, Minn.; Milwaukee; West Lincoln and Mount Joy, Pa.; and Burlington and Georgetown, Ont. The company serves customers worldwide with a series of cocoa and chocolate products for confectionery, bakery, dairy products and other applications. The company’s product range includes Weerens Cocoa -powders, chocolate, coatings, fillings, cocoa pluckers and cocoa -butters, as well as Ambrosia chocolate, Merckens -chocolade, chocolate from Peter’s Chocolate and Wilbur -Chocolade.
