The officers then begin discussing Crooks’ bicycle that was spotted nearby.
The Secret Service agent said, “So we’re treating that as a suspect device?”
The camera then panned to reveal the gun Crooks used in the shooting – an AR-style rifle – before officers confirmed he was the same person seen in the footage captured by the sniper.
The chilling video also confirms this bystanders had raised the alarm to an apparently tone-deaf secret service.
“Maybe they were involved, maybe they weren’t,” the officer said of those who tried to blow the whistle.
“The guys who saw them said, ‘They were filming us, then the guy on the roof, then us,’” the man said.
“When the shots started firing, they tried to run away, isn’t that what anyone would do with a phone? I’m not saying they were involved, or that they weren’t involved, but I have no problem keeping them.
“I just want to hold those guys and find out what they know, who they are, whatever. I’m trying to get straight information to send back to DC.”
