‘First of all. I want to praise God for covering and protecting me to get out of this situation and countless others,” Horton, 32, wrote via Instagram on Thursday, January 16. “Everyone who watched me and called me, especially my family and friends. I love you, thank you.”
Horton uploaded several photos of his injury, including an X-ray showing the bullet lodged in his arm.
“Getting shot a few days before Christmas was definitely not on my bucket list 😂🎅🏽,” he continued. “But it happened when the car shot at me. The bullet broke my arm and shattered everything, ox type… But I’m blessed not to be in a coffin or paralyzed.”
Horton noted that he wasn’t focused on “healing,” adding, “I have a plate and screws in my mf arm so I can’t exercise for a minute, which I’m mad about, BUT it could have been worse are! And I don’t need any sympathy. I bounce right back. I feel great 💯💯.”
He concluded, “I wanted to remind you and myself to keep God first! Stay alert and grateful for everything. the devil can’t stop you from walking with God🙏🏽.”
The actor received an outpouring of support in the comments section from his former co-stars including Ashley Blaine Featherson-Jenkinswhich appeared Dear white people. “Thank GOD for your life. I’m so glad you’re doing well,” she wrote.

Horton was honored to spend time with Washington on set.
“I want to look at the stars, I want to ask him two thousand questions, but now I also want to be as good as him and try to create this scene,” he said. “So it was very tough, but we had to talk about a lot of things. We talked about Shakespeare, we talked about God, we talked about love, making mistakes and all that, but it was a really humbling experience for me.
