Dominic West has been cast in the upcoming political spy thriller series “The Agency” on Paramount+ with Showtime, Variety only learned.
West will appear on the series in a guest role. The cast also includes lead actor Michael Fassbender and series regulars Jeffrey Wright, Jodie Turner-Smith, Katherine Waterston, John Magaro, Alex Reznik, Andrew Brooke, Harriet Sansom Harris, India Fowler, Saura Lightfoot-Leon, Reza Brojerdi and Richard Gere. Hugh Bonneville guest stars. Returning cast includes Adam Nagaitis, Ambreen Razia, Bilal Hasna, David Harewood, Kurt Egyiawan, Ray BLK, Sabrina Wu and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor.
As previously reported, the series is based on the French series ‘Le Bureau des Legendes’. According to the official logline, the series follows “Martian (Fassbender), a secret CIA agent, who is ordered to give up his undercover life and return to London Station. When the love he left behind reappears, romance reignites. His career, his real identity and his mission are against his heart; drawing them both into a deadly game of international intrigue and espionage.”
West will play the director of the CIA. The series will debut on Paramount+ with Showtime on November 29, with two episodes streaming and on-demand before its linear TV debut on December 1.
West is no stranger to Showtime audiences, having previously starred in the critically acclaimed series “The Affair” on the premium cabler from 2014-2019. He received a Golden Globe nomination for the series in 2015. West is also known for his roles in the HBO shows “The Wire” and the BBC miniseries version of “Les Miserables.” He recently starred in the final two seasons of Netflix’s “The Crown,” earning an Emmy nomination. His film credits include ‘Chicago’, ‘300’, ‘Pride’, ‘The Square’, ‘Mona Lisa Smile’ and ’28 Days’.

Jez and John-Henry Butterworth are writers and executive producers. Joe Wright serves as executive producer and director for the first two episodes. “The Agency” will stream internationally on Paramount+ in the UK, Canada, Australia, Italy, Germany, Latin America, Brazil and Japan. The series is co-distributed internationally by Paramount Global Content Distribution and Federation Studios.
