New Delhi:

Unless a miracle happens for the Democrats, Donald Trump will become the 47th President of the United States of America, a beaming Shalabh Kumar, a close associate of Trump, told NDTV. The Chicago businessman underlined that the failed assassination attempt means it is a match for Trump in the November elections.

“This specific event, the assassination attempt, practically sealed the election campaign. It’s almost over. The biggest challenge right now for Democrats is figuring out what to do. Such a contrast is enshrined in the minds of the electorate. Two weeks before that you had a debate between Trump and Biden where everyone recognized, including President Biden, that it really seemed to be a bad night for him not answering a single question.

“In contrast, we have a man of steel, a fighter. He doesn’t look like a 78 year old. After he was shot in the right ear, if he had been looking straight, it would have gone straight to his head. He stands up and has a fighting spirit, says fight, fight, fight. That’s what Americans like to see in their presidents. Unless the Democrats come up with another candidate, they still have a month to go. this election is over,” the prominent Indian-American businessman said.

Pressed to respond if there is a reconsideration of the presidential nominee on the Democratic side, he said he hopes for a last-minute change to make for an exciting contest. They have another month to decide, he said.

“I’m still betting that President Barack Obama will convince his wife Michelle Obama to intervene at the last minute. Then there would be a real battle. I would probably say there will then be a battle between Trump and Michelle Obama. Between Trump and Joe Biden there is no contest. There is no contest between Trump and Kamala Harris. Behind the scenes, everyone on the Democratic side is wishing that Michelle Obama, who was involved in Ronald Reagan’s 1984 re-election campaign, will be persuaded to become the Democratic nominee.

“They have to come up with something else. I hope Obama convinces Michelle to resign. Then there will be a real battle. They have to find someone else,” said the businessman.

Asked how fundraising is going after the assassination attempt, Mr Kumar said there has been a dramatic increase.

‘The money is going like crazy. The donor class sees DJT (Donald John Trump) returning as the 47th president. I’m sure you know what Elon Musk has done. $45 million a month until the election. Peter Thiel. Big people are coming forward and funding the campaign. Fundraising has increased dramatically after the assassination attempt,” said the businessman who, in addition to being a financier, is also on the ground getting people out to vote as Trump prepares for a second showdown with the campaign. Joe Biden.

Donald Trump won the formal nomination as Republican presidential candidate on Monday and chose a right-wing loyalist, JD Vance, as his running mate, kicking off a triumphalist party convention in the wake of last weekend’s failed assassination attempt.

“We have 6 million Hindu Americans in the country, 3.3 million of whom are registered voters. Hindu Americans, Indian Americans, they like to declare themselves independent. They go back and forth. In 2008 and 2012 they were mainly for the Democrat. And in 2016, we changed that significantly, especially in the theaters of war. In 2020, they went back to the Democrats. Maybe they are Hindu Americans, they decide practically at the last minute who to vote for. The day of the election itself, they are not tied to any particular party,” he said.

The 78-year-old former president was wounded but survived the assassination attempt, a brutal attack that shocked a country already deeply polarized ahead of November’s elections.

“The country is divided. But even before the debate, especially after the debate, the country was moving toward Trump,” he said.

Trump was speaking when several bangs rang out. He clutched his ear, with blood visible on his ear and cheek, then dived to the ground as Secret Service agents swarmed the stage, surrounded him and rushed him to a nearby vehicle.

Iconic images of a bloodied Trump waving his fist after the shooting are already raising Republican hopes that voters will further rally behind him for a landslide victory in November.

“The campaign after the assassination attempt has become a different campaign. It’s completely different. The enthusiasm of the delegates and the people on the ground, the MAGA crowd, the enthusiasm is radiating. As everyone can feel right now, unless there is a miracle happens for the Democrats, he is the 47th president of the US and we are all very happy about that,” he emphasized.
