Donald Trump seemed to find it curious that a woman was “somehow” doing better than Joe Biden in the presidential race.
During an appearance on Fox News’ “Gutfeld!” on Wednesday, the Republican candidate reflected on the president’s decision to end his campaign and Vice President Kamala Harris’ entry into the race.
‘She doesn’t like doing interviews. And she has no knowledge of economics and all kinds of things, and I think that would be a problem,” Trump said. ‘But you know what? [Biden] was as good as gone. They said, ‘Joe, it’s over. You’re going out. ”
“And they put her in it, and somehow she does better than him,” he added. “But I can’t imagine this can continue.”
The Harris campaign shared a clip of the moment.
Biden turned the race on its head when he dropped out in July and endorsed Harris to take up the mantle.
Harris leads Trump by 3 percentage points in the latest from FiveThirtyEight national poll average of what still appears to be an incredibly close election.
Trump has been making problematic comments about women for decades that objectify them and question their intelligence. He has also been accused of sexual assault several times and was found liable for sexual abuse in a civil case last year.
When Harris suddenly became his opponent, Trump seemed upset for weeks. At the time, New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman said the former president “seems to really struggle with female opponents, female critics and especially black women.”
