The second season of Gen V, the Boys spin-off, was announced a few months ago, but we didn’t know the release date until now. At Comic-Con in San Diego, we finally learned more about the premiere of the new episodes.
The series is an adaptation of a minor arc from the comic book series The Boys. It covers the story of up-and-coming superheroes who attend a prestigious college sponsored by the Vought Corporation. Anyone who is a fan of the original series will know that an elite institution controlled by Vought can’t be up to anything good.
Season 1 of Gen V serves as a prequel to the fourth season of The Boys. Season 2 will likely expand the universe and add new plots to the mothership series.
Find out when the second episode of Gen V will release on Prime Video, what it will be about and who will star in the new episodes.
When is Gen V season 2 coming out?
Amazon greenlit Gen V for season 2, even before season 1 was over. The second part of the show will premiere on Prime Video by 2025.
Gen V season 2 will release before The Boys season 5, which will likely debut in 2026.
As we can read in a statement (via Variety) from showrunner Michele Fazekas and executive producer Eric Kripke, there’s plenty to look forward to:
We couldn’t be happier to be making a second season of Gen V. These are characters and stories we’ve come to love, and we’re happy to know people think the same! The writers are already working on the new season – the second year is going to be wild, with all the twists, heart, satire and exploding genitals you’ve come to expect from the show.
If you haven’t signed up with Amazon yet, you can request a 30-day free trial. After that, a monthly subscription costs $14.99/£8.99 per month. You can get additional savings if you sign up for Prime Video as a standalone service.

What will be the plot of Gen V season 2?
The plot of the next season of Gen V is shrouded in mystery for now.
In the violent finale of season 1, the group of main characters split into two factions.
After releasing the forest’s remaining prisoners, Cate and Sam began hunting for non-supes on the Godolkin campus. Marie, Jordan and Emma decided to go against their friends and stop the bloody riots.
As both groups clashed, Homelander appeared at Godolkin and ended their fight. He helped arrest Marie, Jordan, and Emma, who were accused of assaulting fellow students and locking them in the Vought facility.
Hailed by the media as Guardians of Godolkin, Sam and Cate became the main Vought superheroes of the young generation. In season 4 of The Boys, Cate and Sam continue their careers. They also played a crucial role in capturing Frenchie and Kimiko during the season finale.
The virus, produced at Godolkin University as a bioweapon against the supes, was also featured in the fourth season of The Boys. It seemed too weak to topple Homelander, so Butcher searched in vain for a way to increase his power.
Given the premiere date, we assume that the second season of Gen V will serve as a prequel to season 5 of The Boys. If that’s true, we’ll likely see a sequel to the virus-related plot. We’ll also learn what happened to Marie, Jordan, and Emma and find out if Sam and Cate will remain true Vought supporters.
Who is the cast of Gen V season 2?
The series mainly features young actors:
- Jaz Sinclair – bloodbending freshman Marie Moreau
- Lizze Broadway – Emma Meyer, great with shrinking power
- Derek Luh and London Thor – Jordan Li, a gender shifter
- Asa Germann – Sam, super strong and invulnerable super
- Maddie Phillips – mind-controlling Cate Dunlap
Unfortunately, we won’t see that in season 2 Chance Perdomo, who portrayed Andre Anderson, super with magnetic powers. The actor died in a motorcycle accident in 2024. His role will not be recast and the script for season 3 will be adapted appropriately.
That has also been confirmed Shelley Connwho plays the role of Dean Indira Shetty, will not be returning to the show after her character was killed off in season 1.
It is unknown whether, Patrick Schwarzenegger, who played Luke Riordan, aka Golden Boy, in season 1, will reprise the role after his character committed suicide. Of course, he can appear in flashbacks and Sam’s hallucinations.
In the second part of the show we will see new faces. According to the announcement, Hamish Linklater (Midnight Mass, Manhunt) will emerge as the new dean of Godolkin University.
Chase Crawford will appear in a cameo appearance as The Deep.
