If you can’t wait for the premiere of the next part of Charlie and Nick’s story, don’t worry: new episodes are coming soon. And with it even more dilemmas, dramas and adventures of the main characters and their loved ones.
For those who don’t know, the series is based on a webcomic and graphic novel by British author Alice Oseman. The series consists of four published parts: Part 5 was released in December 2023 and Part 6 does not yet have a publication date. So far, Netflix has adapted the story from the first three parts, so there is still a lot to tell about Nick and Charlie’s love story.

When is Heartstopper season 3 coming out?
The third part of the series appears on Netflix Thursday, 3 October 2024.
The season will consist of eight episodes.
What will be the plot of Heartstopper season 3?
Season 2 of Heartstopper ended on a significant cliffhanger. After a difficult conversation about bullying at school related to coming out, Nick finally confessed his love to Charlie. On the way home, feeling safe and happy, Charlie responded with a confession of love of his own, and at the last moment he kept his finger on the send button.
Season 1 depicted the events from the first two parts of the graphic novel, while Season 2 featured the story from Part 3. So the upcoming season will most likely adapt the events of Part 4 of the comic book, with the characters heading to high school. However, it is uncertain whether the creators of the series will organize the events in exactly the same way.
As Alice Oseman said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly:
I feel very comfortable letting the show be its own thing. To me, the show and the comic feel very separate, even though it’s a pretty faithful adaptation. I’m excited to expand Heartstopper for the show.
In season 3, we can definitely look forward to seeing Tara and Darcy’s love story develop and finding out whether or not Darcy will come out to her parents. Tao and Elle have professed their love for each other, but the girl’s decision to attend Lambert Art School could put a strain on their relationship.
In the next season of Heartstopper, we can also expect Isaac to explore his asexuality. According to Oseman, Mr. Farouk and Mr. Ajayi’s storyline will also be expanded in the new episodes of the show.
Interestingly, the atmosphere of the third season may differ slightly from that of the first two seasons. The characters will be a bit older and therefore their dilemmas will be more complicated and grim.
As Alice Oseman revealed to Netflix’s Tudum:
Season 2 ended with Nick beginning to understand the extent of Charlie’s mental health issues, and it is this that will drive the story through Season 3. While Heartstopper will always celebrate the joyful and point to hope, I’m really excited that we’re continuing the tone of the show of coming of age alongside our beloved characters as they grow up. Mental health, sex, college aspirations, and more: Nick, Charlie, and the Heartstopper teens grow older, learn more about themselves and each other, and experience new desires, new fears, and new joys as they mature.
Who is the cast of Heartstopper season 3?
