As of January 14, 2025, Los Angeles continues to experience multiple active wildfires, including the Palisades Fire, which has burned more than 17,000 acres in the Pacific Palisades area.

The latest LA wildfire map was released and updated by The Ministry of Forestry and Fire Protection.


Is LAX Airport open during LA wildfires?

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) remains open and operational.

However, some flights have been canceled or delayed due to the fires and associated weather conditions.

Flights are still arriving at LAX, but several airlines, including United Airlines, American Airlines and JetBlue, have offered waivers to customers who want to cancel or reschedule their trips, according to NewsWeek.

Road closures in LA due to wildfires

In addition, several roads, including portions of the Pacific Coast Highway, are closed due to the fires.

Southern California is facing dangerous fire conditions, with critical consequences extremely critical fire brigade is expected to continue in parts of the region from today (Tuesday, January 14) through Wednesday (January 15).

Canada’s travel advisory for California wildfires

The Canadian government has provided an update on the US travel advisory in this section
Natural disasters and climate.

“Since January 7, 2025, several wildfires have erupted in Southern California, including the Palisades Fire in Los Angeles’ Pacific Palisades neighborhood and the Eaton Fire near Pasadena. These fires may continue to spread and the risk of new fires remains high.”

“Local authorities have declared a state of emergency and issued evacuation orders for the affected areas. In the evacuation zones there is a curfew from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Several roads have been closed due to the fires and heavy smoke has significantly reduced visibility for motorists. Air quality has deteriorated due to smoke and ash, and power outages are affecting parts of Los Angeles County.”
