‘I have been informed the shooting at Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania,” Biden wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “I’m grateful to hear he’s doing well. I pray for him and his family and for everyone who was at the meeting as we await further information.”Jill and I am grateful to the Secret Service for keeping him safe,” he continued. “There is no place for this kind of violence in America. We must unite as one nation to condemn it.”
The Secret Service announced that the suspect was “neutralized” within seconds of the shooting.
“An incident occurred on the evening of July 13 at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania,” their statement read. “The Secret Service carried it out protective measures and the former president is safe. This is now an active Secret Service investigation and further information will be released as it becomes available.”
Despite the life-threatening incident, Trump’s communications director said Steven Cheungconfirmed that the politician was doing well.
“President Trump thanks law enforcement officers and first responders for their prompt action during this heinous act,” the statement read. “He is doing well and is being evaluated at a local medical facility.”
Although Trump is still alive, there are reports of two casualties.
“CONFIRMED: Butler County District Attorney tells me one person is presumed dead. Donald Trump is fine, he tells me. There is currently no information on the shooter,” said journalist Mike Valente wrote in a social media post.
Journalist Merly Kornfield added: “Butler County District Attorney Richard Goudinger tells me Trump was grazed by gunfire but is safe. A spectator was killed and the shooter is dead. Another person is in serious condition, prosecutors said.”
Jozef Mijnen – who attended the campaign rally – told a news source: “It initially looked like fireworks were being set off.”
“Half the crowd on the other side of the meeting thought it was some weird joke, the other half of the crowd knew it wasn’t and tried to push or impress the rest from the crowd that this is serious,” he revealed. “I think everyone – very quickly – got the idea that it was a dangerous situation, and everyone just started hitting the deck.”
Mines was left speechless by the incident.
“It’s something you don’t expect… it’s very shocking,” he said of the shooting. “We shouldn’t be at a level of public political discourse in this country where this is happening; it feels like it’s 1960.”
