Juicing can harm your health in just 3 days, find research

Do you think your juice cleaning makes you healthier? A new Northwestern University study suggests that it might do the opposite. The study, recently published in NutrientsDiscovered that a diet for only vegetables and fruit juice for only three days trigger shifts can be linked to inflammation and cognitive decline in intestinal and oral bacteria.

Northwestern scientists studied three groups of healthy adults. One group only consumed juice, the other had juice with whole food and a third ate only whole vegetable foods. Scientists gathered saliva, cheek bars and relief samples before, during and after the diets to analyze bacterial changes with the help of gene sequencing techniques.

The SAP-Alleen group showed the most important increase in bacteria associated with inflammation and intestinal permeability, while the vegetable entire food group saw more favorable microbial changes. The SAP Plus Food Group had a number of bacterial shifts but less serious than the group with sap alone. These findings suggest that juice without fiber can disturb the microbiome, which may lead to health consequences in the long term.

“Most people regard SAP as a healthy cleaning, but this study offers a reality control,” says senior author Dr. Melinda Ring, director of the OSHER Center for Integrative Health at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and a doctor in north -western medicine.

“Consuming large amounts of juice with little fiber can lead to microbioma balances that can have negative consequences, such as inflammation and reduced health of the gut,” said Ring.

Why fiber matter

Making a lot of the fibers away in entire vegetables and vegetables, which feeds useful bacteria that produce anti -inflammatory connections such as butyraat.

Sugar-loving bacteria can multiply without fiber. The high sugar content in SAP feeds these harmful bacteria, which disrupts the intestine and oral microbiome. The study also suggests that reduced fiber intake can influence metabolism, immunity and even mental health.

The oral microbiome responds quickly

In contrast to the intestinal microbiota, which remained relatively stable, the oral microbiome showed dramatic changes during the SAP all-diet. Scientists found a reduction in useful firmicutes bacteria and an increase in proteobacteria, a bacterial group associated with inflammation.

“This emphasizes how quickly food choices can influence health -related bacteria populations,” said Ring. “The oral microbiome seems to be a fast barometer of food impact.”

Subsequent steps

The findings underline the need for more research into how SAP and other diets influence the microbiome, especially in children, who often consume SAP as a fruit substitute.

“The dietary composition of sap diets – in particular their sugar and carbohydrate levels – plays a key role in shaping microbial dynamics in both the intestinal and oral cavity and must be carefully considered,” said first author Maria Luisa Sardaro, a research employee in The Amato Lab in the Anthropology department at Northwestern University and Professor in Food Microbiology at San Raffaele University in Rome.

This study also emphasizes the importance of prioritizing fibers in food guidelines and food production. For now, Ring says: “If you like juice, consider mixing instead to keep the fiber intact, or juices with all food to balance the impact on your microbiome.”
