The Galaxy Z Fold series has become synonymous with the latest foldable technology.
Although it hasn’t been that long since the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, rumors about the next entry in the series – the Galaxy Z Fold 7 – are already raising expectations.
Despite still being early in the development cycle, leaks suggest that Samsung’s next foldable smartphone could be slimmer and bigger, with significant improvements across the board.
Here’s what we know so far.
When will the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 be released?
Samsung’s release cycle for flagship devices is well established, with new Galaxy Z Fold models debuting annually at the company’s Unpacked events around the middle of each calendar year.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 was launched in 2024, so it’s safe to assume the Z Fold 7 will follow suit in 2025.
If past trends hold, we can expect the Galaxy Z Fold 7 to be unveiled July or August 2025which coincides with next year’s Unpacked event.
How much will the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 cost?
Price rumors for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 are speculative at this point, but looking at previous models we can get a reasonable estimate.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 cost £1,799/$1,899, £100/$100 more than its predecessor. If Samsung follows a similar trend, the Z Fold 7 will likely cost around £1,899/$1,999.

Of course, factors like additional features, inflation, and market competition can also affect the final price.
Once the phone is officially announced, it will likely be available for pre-order right after the Unpacked event, just like previous models.
What specifications and features will the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 have?
While we’re still a long way from an official spec sheet, early rumors offer an exciting glimpse into what the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has to offer.
Samsung seems focused on creating a slimmer, lighter device without sacrificing screen size or performance.
A second model?
Samsung appears to be planning to release two versions of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 next year, according to a report from the Dutch site GalaxyClub.
Three codenames have been revealed for the upcoming foldables: ‘B7’ for the Galaxy Z Flip 7, ‘Q7’ for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and ‘Q7M’ for an unknown foldable.
The codename ‘Q7’ matches Samsung’s convention for its Fold series, suggesting that both Q7 and Q7M could be part of the Fold range. However, the ‘M’ in Q7M remains a mystery.

Normally, Samsung’s Special Edition phones include an ‘A’ suffix, as seen on the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, coded as ‘Q6A’.
The lack of this ‘A’ designation raises the possibility that the Q7M is a different model, for example the Galaxy Z Fold FE, a more budget-friendly version of the Fold series.
Design
One of the notable rumors (via Korea Economic Daily) is that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be thinner and lighter than its predecessors.
Reports suggest that Samsung is aiming to make the phone’s folded thickness comparable to the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which is just 8.6mm thick. This would be a significant achievement considering the Z Fold 6 measures 12.1mm when folded.

Lucas Baker
In late August, Honor teased Samsung while offering its then upcoming Magic V3, which will be even slimmer, at 9.2mm.
Samsung has a history of slimming down its foldable devices, and the Z Fold 7 could continue that trend while ensuring the phone maintains its durability despite a thinner profile.
Display
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 could have a larger screen, with rumors (via TomsGuide) pointing to a foldable screen inside that expands to 8 inches, up from the Z Fold 6’s 7.6-inch main panel. This would make it one of the largest foldable screens on the market (Huawei’s Mate XT notwithstanding).

Additionally, according to a report from SamMobile, Samsung could use blue phosphorescent OLED (PHOLED) technology, which could allow for a brighter display while consuming less power. This change could contribute to the device’s sleeker design by reducing the battery size without sacrificing screen quality or longevity.
Performance
Unlike previous models, the latest rumor (via GSMArena) suggests that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 2500 chipset, rather than one of Qualcomm’s top Snapdragon processors, which traditionally power the company’s foldables .
This shift is expected to give Samsung more control over the Z Fold 7’s performance optimization.

Lucas Baker
While the Snapdragon 8 Elite is expected to power the Galaxy S25 series, the Z Fold 7’s Exynos chipset is reportedly being refined to ensure competitive performance.
Cameras
Camera specs for the Z Fold 7 remain speculative, but based on Samsung’s track record, we can expect improvements across the board.
The Z Fold 6’s triple-camera setup was already impressive, with a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP ultrawide lens, and a 10MP telephoto lens. It’s likely that the Z Fold 7 will bring incremental upgrades, potentially adding new sensor technology or improvements in AI-powered photography features.

Lucas Baker
Expect improvements in low-light performance, zoom capabilities and possibly an improved under-display camera for an uninterrupted viewing experience on the inner screen.
Battery and charging
A thinner device often raises concerns about battery capacity, but Samsung could mitigate this with more energy-efficient components, such as the aforementioned PHOLED display.
Early reports (via LifeWire) suggest that Samsung could use a smaller battery without sacrificing battery life.

Lucas Baker
The Z Fold 6 features a 4400mAh battery with 25W wired charging and 15W wireless charging, so expect that at least as a baseline on the Fold 7.
That said, the 2025 phone should hopefully use fast charging at 45W or higher.
Software
By the time the Z Fold 7 launches, it will likely be running Android 15, complemented by Samsung’s own One UI 7 experience.
Leaks suggest that One UI 7 will be a massive overhaul compared to previous versions. Expect a redesigned user interface with new icons, animations and improved multitasking capabilities, tailored for foldable devices.
A vertical app drawer and other UI tweaks can make the experience on the Z Fold 7 fresh; improving user productivity with the larger screen.
