The Lonely Island’s latest song debuted on “Saturday Night Live,” recruiting pop sensation Charli XCX to sing with Andy Samberg about white people in suburbs calling the police. Samberg can be seen polishing his various phones in different bright colors with a smug grin as he prepares to call the police. The sign above his collection of telephones reads: ‘Phones you can use to snitch.’
In the music video, Weekend Update host Colin Jost is arrested by members of the police force outside Samberg’s home as he calls the police. In one part of the song, Samberg and Charli XCX, both dressed in chic suburban attire, called the police on a Girl Scout in their neighborhood.
In several scenes around the exterior of their home, Samberg and Charli Your Damn Dog’.
“Please, I’ll report you to the police, and I’ll report you anonymously!” said Samberg, who looked white in Wonder Bread, wearing a puffy vest and khaki pants. “I’m going to sleep like a baby tonight!” croons Samberg.
Pictured on the jury box in a courtroom, Samberg eats popcorn and sings with a smile, “You better believe I’m going to show up on that court day!” Later, Lonely Island member Akiva Schaffer is seen filming an incident on his smartphone, a nod to the modern phenomenon of phone owners filming suspicious incidents and sharing them on social media.
In the final scene of the music video, Charli XCX and Samberg dance on the street in matching red outfits, both scantily clad, dancing next to the police and their neighbors.
This song follows Lonely Island’s latest hit on ‘Saturday Night Live’, ‘Sushi Glory Hole’, a song about secret sushi spots in New York City.
Charli XCX is the episode’s host and musical guest.
