José de la Torre, who played Iván in the Spanish-language Netflix drama “Toy Boy,” has died. He was 37.
Spanish publication Montilla Digital was the first to report that the actor died on December 5 after a long battle with an unknown illness. A funeral service was held in Spain the day after his death.
In June, De la Torre revealed that he had been diagnosed with what he described as a “serious illness” and had quit acting to receive treatment the same month.
De la Torre has been part of Netflix’s ‘Toy Boy’ since its debut in 2019. The show lasted 21 episodes over three seasons until 2021. The series followed Hugo Beltrán, played by Jesús Mosquera, a stripper who “wants to prove his innocence ‘. for a crime he did not commit and was wrongfully imprisoned seven years earlier,” the official logline reads.
Additional cast members included Cristina Castaño, María Pedraza, Carlo Costanzia and Raudel Raúl Martiato.
De la Torre also appeared in 36 episodes of “Amar es para siempre” (“To Love Forever”), a long-running soap opera that explored the social and economic revival of the Spanish working class in the 1960s through the daily activities of the Spanish working class. fictional tavern “El Asturiano”. José Antonio Sayagués and Mauel Baquerio served as series stars.
Other credits include short stints on shows like “Vis a Vis: El Oasis” and “Serve and Protect.”
De la Torre is survived by his father Antonio de la Torre Hidalgo, mother Maria Jose Delgado Espejo and sister Marina.
