Following Friday’s global technology outage coupled with a CrowdStrike update, airlines at Denver International Airport are still working on recovery.
According to DIA, more than 400 flights were delayed or canceled on Saturday morning flight tracking data from FlightAware. By 2 p.m., 133 flights had been canceled and 273 could not leave the gate on time.
United and Southwest had the most delayed flights on Saturday, with 116 United flights and 67 Southwest flights held at the gate. Regional carrier SkyWest – the airline that operates United Express – has delayed another 35 flights.
According to FlightAware, United was responsible for the majority of cancellations at DIA on Saturday. The airline canceled 113 flights, eclipsing Delta’s 19 canceled flights and one American Airlines flight.
DIA first noticed a problem Thursday night when Frontier Airlines announced that its systems were affected by a Microsoft outage, including booking, check-in, boarding pass access and some flights.
More than 1,200 flights were delayed or canceled at DIA amid the chaos Friday.
