“I hate this thing the Republicans do when Trump says something crazy and the media asks them about the crazy thing” and “they act like reporters are the ones bringing it up out of the blue,” the “Late Night” host said.
One example was House Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-La.) recent attempt to turn back a question about Republican presidential candidate Arnold Palmer’s penis speech to CNN’s Jake Tapper, Meyers said.
“No one wants to talk about Arnold Palmer’s penis except Donald Trump,” Meyers said. “I swear to God, I never thought about it until this weekend and because I have this show, the last two days people have been saying to me, ‘I bet you’re going to have a great day with Arnold Palmer’s penis. .’ Like I have this weird kink where I like to talk about the genitals of famous golfers.
Meyers claimed he was “in a pumpkin patch with my kids trying to disconnect from the news” when “a stranger came up to me, pointed at me and said, ‘Arnold Palmer’s penis.’ No context. And I’m thinking, ‘What the hell is going on?’ My kids look to me for answers. I have nothing.”
“And this is Donald Trump’s America, you know?” he added.
