George Clooney asked about celebrity use of social media during his 2013 interview Esquire.
He explained: “Because the worst thing you can do is make yourself more available, right? Because you will be available to everyone. But also for Twitter. So one drunken night you come home and you’ve had two too many drinks and you’re watching TV and someone pisses you off, and you go, ‘Ehhhhhh’ and fight back. And you go to sleep, and you wake up in the morning and your career is over a—— Or all the things you might be thinking in the silence of your drunken evening are suddenly beamed around the world before you wake up is becoming.”
The ER alum shared a similar sentiment at the Toronto Film Festivalin which he says he would rather have “a rectal exam on live TV by someone with cold hands” than launch a Facebook page.
