Hunter Woodhall is the ruling 400m men T 62 Paralympic champion. The American recently revealed that he underwent an emergency operation for an enlarged appendix and the story shared from how a unique piece of equipment could have saved his life.
Woodhall, a five-fold paralympic and double medal winner of the world championships, became famous alongside his wife, Olympic champion Tara Davis-Woodhall. The duo shared a glimpse in their daily life with fans.
The sprinter recently remembered the story of how his Oura Ring would have saved his life. Hunter Woodhall went to Instagram a video of himself, and began to say:
“This (our) ring perhaps saved my life yesterday.”
He continued with details the whole story and explained that he was on his way to Syracuse, Utah to visit his father who recently underwent open heart surgery when he started to experience a abdominal pain. The sprinter initially put it down on lactose intolerance because of some blue cheese that he ate for his lunch, but the pain got worse and continued the next morning.
He explained that his symptoms in the morning include pain in the abdomen and said:
“When I woke up, I still had some pain in my stomach at the bottom right, it came up like a red flag, but I thought I could just harden it. What was overwhelmed me is a symptom radar with important signs that something was wrong in my body and I have been wearing this (our) ring for four years and I have never seen this. So it immediately caught me overwhelmed. It told me that my resting heartbeat was raised, my body temperature was raised and my HRV was raised. “
Woodhall then explained that after viewing the symptoms on his ring he went to the hospital with his mother, where doctors discovered that he had an enlarged appendix.
“I asked my mother if she would take me to the hospital, but they did all the tests. They did my blood test. They did the urine test and everything came back negative, not good. They didn’t know what was going on, but they knew it wasn’t right. Then I finally did a CT scan and looked at the CT scan, they could see that my appendix was extremely enlarged. Fortunately I wasn’t bursting yet, but I should do an emergency operation. “
Hunter Woodhall ended the video by reassuring fans that he was doing well and would use in the coming days to recover next to his father.
